We are proud to be a barn rooted in inclusivity, kindness, and most importantly fun! Riders in our program are a part of building a team culture of self-growth both in and out of the saddle. Teaching in groups encourages our riders to learn from their teammates and ask questions that further their effectiveness while riding. We cultivate a program of riders who have a strong understanding of ethical and safe horsemanship practices, practical skills towards problem solving, and an overall appreciation for being involved in this sport. Our monthly tuition based system allows for our trainer to focus on developing the riders and horses committed to our program and our values.

We offer training packages built to fit the needs of your horse! Greg Gilbert works alongside Annelise to start young horses and work through troubling horse behaviors. His horsemanship approach creates horses that are well minded, respectfully responsive, and overall solid when started under saddle.

Bronze $250

Four lessons a month plus access to one unmounted horsesence lesson per month.

Silver $450

Eight lessons a month plus access to two unmounted horsesence lessons per month.

Gold $725

Lease one of our lesson horses. Eight lessons a month, access to all unmounted horsesence lessons plus four practice rides a month.

Full Training $650

Four days a week to be split between professional schooling rides and lessons on your own horse or leased horse. Unlimited access to unmounted horsesence lessons.

Annelise Appleseth

Meet Annelise, Owner and Trainer at AJA Equine. With a passion for horses from a young age, she has built a successful career in the Equestrian community. She has a BS in Animal Science from Iowa State University and she established AJA Equestrian in 2013 when she lived in Iowa. Now settled in Reno, Nevada with her husband and their three lively dogs, Annelise still loves teaching riders and horses of all ages. Annelise also has a string of Warmblood broodmares who continue to produce top-notch foals. Stay tuned for more updates on these future competitive performance horses! Greg Gilbert

Born and raised in the Reno area, Greg has created connections in the horseman community that impacted his passion for starting quality versatile horses. His background in moving and working cattle on the BLM in Nevada is the foundation of his desire to start horses that are reliable and responsive under saddle. Greg utilizes groundwork practices that engages the horse's mind in order to build the horse's understanding of respect, expectations, and patience. As a part of our team Greg works with young horses, horses in training, and teaching our riders practical horsemanship ground skills. In his spare time Greg raises a small herd of Angus cattle on his property. He is always accompanied by his side-kicks Roxy, Hailey and Harley, who are his long time trusted border collies!
